For a new chapter in the Cochrane Food Bank Society’s journey, they were looking to rebrand themselves with a fresh logo and launch their own website.

The folks at the Food Bank were welcoming and enthusiastic about the many different creative possibilities for the project. After many rounds of drafting logo concept sketches and a few brainstorming meetings, we landed on an apple design that was later refined once I highlighted readability concerns with the logo design. Although the logo design pivoted a few times during the creative process, it was a great experience brainstorming design ideas with the Food Bank’s board members and truly reenvisioning the brand for the Food Bank.

As the logo was in development, I started on the website, picking out a handful of WordPress themes that would best suit the Food Bank team’s requirements. Once the theme was chosen, I started developing the colour scheme and customizing the website with the Food Bank’s existing content. After a few rounds of drafts we landed on an updated colour scheme, and then website development began in earnest. For the Food Bank team, I also developed an abbreviated brand book and a WordPress how-to guide so that their volunteers could make edits to their website.

The team at the Cochrane Food Bank does so much for the community of Cochrane, I’m grateful to have been given the opportunity to help them craft their brand from scratch, and support them on their journey establishing an internet presence. With ongoing web maintenance and assistance, I’m happy to be able to continue to support their work.
